elephant parade

After seeing this wonderful pattern on Retro Mama .  I just had to buy it and download immediately.  I used up some of my fat quaters (watch out for that yellow, its currently making its way into a top).  The pink was left over from a dress - which after an extensive search, it seems I never posted about!  Not a great dress and I haven't worn it, so probably just as well... Anyways... back to the cute elephants...

Rabbit

My rabbit is finished :) Started in a time that time forgot (I had created one leg years ago!).  Here he is for size with the knitted monsters.

putting up the art

This is something I've wanted to do in my craft room/study for ages.  Still need to paint the walls but at least the room is looking more like what I want it to!  I think I'll have rotating artwork.  I like how simple and effective the clip boards are and it was worth the time with the spirit level and ruler :)

spooky crafts (Tombstone edition)

Wonder what this was for our Halloween party? $5 wood from DIY store My first use of our jigsaw. Three different paint testers (three options for our dining room...) Plans to paint the dining room gray... Yup. Fake grave headstones.    With the primer and the first coat... Watched intently... Liberally sprinkled throughout the garden (beside the footpath to the front door). The first reads "Here lies XXX, God grant he lie still" Noah Pulse And M.T. Tomb.  We're thinking of Noah Pulse for the dining room (they really should change the paint colour name).

sweet pea cakes

Sweet pea is a cupcake emporium in Petone , near Wellington.  Myself and a friend took a jaunt out there for a wander around the shops recently and loaded up on the sugary goodness that is a raspberry and white chocolate or a sweet orange cupcake.  Yum!

ikea forest skirt

I finished a skirt I started last month with fabric and lining from my stash.  Its a simple A line skirt and I adapted the pattern by adding lining and a button.  I'm looking forward to wearing it as the weather heats up in NZ.  The fabric is from Ikea - probably a cotton dill (??) Same pattern as these .

Halloween spooktacular - the haunted house edition

Image
We finally had our house warming bash on Saturday night.  It was Halloween themed as Halloween hit after a busy work time, just after my 33 and 3/3s birthday (need to share the lovely swag I got for that!) and fulfilled our need to have a builder free house before the party! I had a lot of fun decorating.  Our hall was invaded by bats (black paper, clear thread and masking tape to hold them to the ceiling - I free handed the cutting out and have a tonne of these left over - I seriously over estimated the number we'd need).  I was also sent over a few Halloween decorations for my birthday and they made their presence felt around the house. A few bats even roosted on the lamp.   The bathroom was a cobwebby affair.   As was the dining room - we used this as the buffet room and moved over the dining table.   BM's large spider came in handy :) The living room had a skull chandelier and crepe streamers as well as more cobwebby goodness...
